'Open' webplayer missing major features from 'Play' player

It seems like users are being forced onto the 'Open' player from the play.spotify.com player. There are a number of issues with the new 'Open':

  • Check-mark support is missing
  • Not designed for landscape displays (wastes a lot of space)
  • Icons are way too big on a desktop display
  • Artists tab doesn't allow playing all check-marked songs from an artist across all albums.

There are probably many other features that people have got used to in the old 'Play' player that are also missing in the new 'Open' player. These are just the ones that affect me the most. Please either make the 'Open' player the same as the 'Play' player, or continue allowing access to the old player.

Right now I think I'd have to search out all my favourite tracks again and create playlists, but this is a huge hassle. I will try the IE10 user-agent hack for now, but if that stops working, what is there to keep me on Spotify? I can't use the Desktop version here.

Hey guys!

Spotify is always testing this and working on improving Spotify. You can post your feedback and ideas on the Ideas board. Be sure to search for it first! Let me know if you have any questions.

Have a nice day! 🙂

I am a Premium subscriber, BTW.

When I "like" a song from Radio in Open, it doesn't add the song to my "Liked from Radio" playlist like it does when using the web browser.  What gives?

"Not an issue"!?!?!? Definitely still an issue for me. Not a happy customer. Not really a nice day.

Hey @takbok!

I've marked this not an issue since it's not an Ongoing Issue. Anything you'd like to see changed in Spotify (ideas), you can submit on the Ideas board. This board is for ongoing problems. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Have a nice day! 🙂

These aren't new ideas, these are features already implemented in the previous player that you have gotten rid of for no reason in an attempt to switch us to "Open." Please allow us to use the previous player as the new one is useless. If I lose these features for good, I will have to cancel my premium subscription and find a new service that provides these tools.

Hello @Hubo. It is certainly an Ongoing Issue for me. What was a working service is now broken. Features which worked a week ago have now gone. I hope you are passing news of our dissatisfaction up to your superiors, otherwise the first they hear about it will be when it is too late and we've all gone. To me the old 'Play' player is Spotify. That is the product I feel I am subscribed to, that I am paying for. Someone is making a very bad decision to disable it. Please urgently pass this info up the chain of command.

Hey all!

Thanks for your feedback! I'll pass this along to the relevant folks. But I stronly recommend you'd suggest those ideas on the Ideas board as Spotify can update the status there. I'll be here if you have any other questions.

Have a nice day! 🙂
