Performance issues on iOS devices

Hey folks,

We've received reports that iOS users are experiencing technical issues on their devices (running version 8.8.72.623 or higher). The app is crashing or the playback suddenly stops.

 This is being investigated.

Hey folks,

Thanks for your patience while we looked into this issue.

We’re happy to say that this should be fixed in version 8.8.81.573. If you don't see a pending update, you can manually update from Spotify's App Store page.

If you're still having trouble, make sure to post a new thread in the relevant help board here.

Thanks!

At this stage it’s been a month and all we’ve experienced is poor communication, a complete lack of transparency, and no effective progress.

As of this morning I have cancelled both of my premium plans. I retain access to Spotify through a family plan paid for by a parent. I will be encouraging them to cancel and migrate across to an alternate streaming service with haste.

Exceptionally disappointing. Certainly the worst customer experience I’ve had in the past few years.

I have the same issue!

I see 8.8.81.573 was just released

OK! iPod 7th Gen here, iOS 15.7.9, just upgraded to Spotify version 8.8.81.573, the issue seems to be fixed for me. The songs are playing as expected. I skipped multiple songs slowly and quickly.

Huge thanks to Spotify team for getting this fixed, just wish this was prioritized earlier given how widespread this was.

I'm also very curious what the issue was and how it was fixed. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Hey @Buzzie_123,

Have you noticed the same behavior after updating the app?

Keep us posted.

I don't want to tempt fate but after updating to 8.8.81.573, the issue seems to have been resolved. Can others update and see if it has?

I've tested it by going to the next song for 50 songs and there have been no issues

I’ve updated as well and I also skipped like 50 songs and then went back the same amount. And then hit play and it’s now still playing after 6 songs.

I’ll keep an eye on it though, because some versions ago it seemed fixed too! And for me the problem was intermittent up until the last update. So some days I could skip and sometimes I couldn’t.

But thank you for looking into it finally, Spotify!

YAY!!!   I have been playing my playlist for the last hour and so far so good with the new update. Thank you.
