Spotify some adds shown in the windows application set off phishing warning in antivirus. Starting to think I'll have to stop using Spotify.

Hey @Matt8414t!

Are you still experiencing the same? We've recently released a new version of the app, make sure you have the latest. For now, we'll be closing the post since it's been more than a week from the last reply. No worries, we'll be around if you need anything else.

Take care!

Hi @Matt8414t, welcome to the Spotify Community!

That's odd. Can you let us know what device, operating system, and version of Spotify you're using? A screenshot of the warning you get might be helpful.

We recommend reinstalling the app following the steps here to see if it helps.

Take care 🙂

I don't know the version because it has updated since the post but I am on
windows 10 fully updated with bitdefender free. I will attach the error I
received from bitdefender.

Hey @Matt8414t!

You can find the Spotify version in Help > About Spotify.

Also, can you let us know the following info?

-Browser the ad opens in.
-Screenshot of the ad that plays in Spotify.
-Exact date/time it happened.

We'll be waiting for your answer 🙂

App version is 1.0.50.41368.gbd68dbef.
Happened March 18 3:51pm as soon as I opened the Spotify windows app no
browser opened. Only Spotify was open.

Thanks for the info, @Matt8414t.

We'd like to confirm and gather some info. If you could send us screenshots or the link of the browser the ads opens in, that'd be very helpful.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Matt8414t
The ads were on the windows spotify app not a browser. They never opened in
a browser.
And I didn't think to take a screenshot of the app interface at the time so
that's not possible. I opened the app got 2 phishing warnings that I sent a
screenshot of to you. Since then it hasn't happened again so I apologize
can't really offer any more info than that.

That's odd, @Matt8414t.

Could you go to Settings on Bitdefender and mark Spotify as a safe application? Let us know if you get the same error after that.

Take care 🙂
