Playback issues: Songs going silent on Android app

We've received reports from Android users that the progress bar of a song keeps moving but there's no sound coming out. When the app is restarted, the progress bar goes back to the point where the song went silent.

Some users noticed that the issue doesn't occur when the features below are toggled off:

• Gapless playback - found in the app's Settings > Playback
• Equalizer - also found in Settings > Playback

I'm sorry if it's hard to understand because I'm using a translation function.

I officially inquired about the bug that only moves the seek bar and doesn't make a sound.

The problem was solved on my terminal by setting the crossfade of the setting to 1 second.

I don't know if everyone can solve it because it's a terminal using android14, but I'll share it

Hola. Segundo plano y normal, se detiene la playlist y cuando la reviso vuelve a cargar Spotify como si recién la activara, y la canción debe empezar otra vez.

Uso Plan Duo y mi compañera le pasa lo mismo. Android 11. Motorola G22

hi. I have a slightly different problem. When the screen is off, the music starts playing intermittently at different points in the song. However, when the screen is on, even if the app is running in the background, the music plays normally.

We realize this thread's been open for a while, however, our tech team is having difficulties pinpointing the root cause of the issue and in order for them to do so, it's important that you provide all of the info requested previously:

• The day, time and time zone this has last occurred on
• Your device's OS version
• The version of Spotify you're running
• Does the app switch to the next song or is it stuck on the current one (with the timer still counting)?
• Whether this occurs when playing from the mobile device directly or when connected to another device (Bluetooth, headphones, etc.)

If you've already provided that info, then just share a timestamp of the issue's last occurrence so we can start the investigation anew.

Hello, I have the issue as well with my Android phone. When I press "next song" or "previous song" the cursor runs but there is no audio. Pressing Pause+Play brings back the audio, as well as changing the volume. I tried the Crossfade Off and didn't really work. What did work was to disable the equalizer. I tried with and without several times and I can confirm that in my case, that was 100% the issue. I hope this helps others as well 😊

Update has seem to have gotten better to where, even if it does seem to crash “based on my user experience” it acts kinda like how your high speed internet would function ‘when buffering very momentarily. Overall, with this issue seemingly out of the way, I can definitely see some improvements within new features but at the same time, maybe new challenges for them, in which I am sure they’ll overcome
