Remove songs/albums from cache.

Now when removing songs from spotify does not free space. I don't have more space on my sd card. So I deleted many albums but now free space is made. I got only one solution. To clean cache from in side spotify, but this removes everything. Then i need to find all albums I want manually and re-download them again. This is not acceptable. How is it possible that removed files are still on sd card. I can't understand that. They are not needed.

Hey @klauzer, welcome to the Spotify Community!

To start, can you let us know what device, operating system, and version of Spotify you're using?

After trying a clean reinstall, does the same thing happen with the songs for offline use that you remove?

Keep us posted.

My version is 7.5.0.1076 arm7

Only thing i could do was to add all albums to a playlist. Then clean the program with cache. Now after that I click download playlist. By this i saved 7Gb of memory on my sd. This is not acceptable to do this work arounds to free space. And every month to clean whole cache.

I want to download albums separately and not from a playlist.

We need to be able to delete specific content from cache.

For one, I get "stuck" tracks and can't simply remove them to force a re-download.

I also once had a "local" track that it kept playing even when the song was put back on Spotify and it refused to reload in the proper version.

I made  a suggestion for spotify but they put it under  unurgent folder.

Make a vote for this issue here. Maybe that will help. https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ongoing-Issues/Remove-songs-albums-from-cache/idi-p/1576836

cleaning everything is possible already because you just find the folder it is in. However the encryption of the names is such that it is impossible to associate a track with a file.

klauzer

Exactly. So it is impossible to clean from old tracks. Now i need to delete whole folder and re download it again. Takes me about 40 minutes. Thanks Spotify 😞

I had another "stuck song" causing hang on my Android yesterday.

And no way to remove the "stuck" song from the cache or force it to reload.

Started my own issue and got no replies.

This is ongoing. Just play my F**king playlists.

Spotify. This issue has nothing to do with my device. It is that you don't have a clean cache in your app. I remove songs but they are still in memory. Because I am downloading along finding new artists. My device memory is going full fast. That should not be that hard to make option to totally remove a album or song if I want it to. If you don't fix this I will sorry leave. This is frustrating.

EarlPurple

This is "not an issue"? Yes it is an issue and is related to my bug you keep ignoring.

Good point here EarlPurple. How can they say it is not an issue. Of course it is. And a very big one. As I said to Spotify. If you will not fix this then i will leave to other services. You are not the only one.

Soon time for me to uninstall Spotify to clean cache again. NOT ACCEPTABLE. fix this.
