Removing queue on web app and making Mac app consistently unusable

I don't understand why Spotify removed the ability to queue tracks on the web app while continuing to make the Spotify desktop app for Mac so slow as to be essentially unusable. The Mac desktop app has been causing me problems for years now, but I've been willing to use the web app as a workaround as long as the functionality was fundamentally similar. If Spotify is going to start taking away functionality that was previously available, though, I don't see how it makes sense for me to maintain my premium subscription.
