Shuffle Not Working - Spotify Connect with Sonos

I have a playlist of over 9,000 songs. If I play the list on my PC (Windows 10, Spotify version 1.0.53.758.gde3fc4b2) the shuffle seems to work correctly. If I set playback to my Sonos speakers using Spotify Connect the queue changes such that it's only playing songs from a few artists in the shuffle. Please see attached screen shots, one from playing on the local PC and one from playing on Sonos.

Hi all,

We've passed this on to the right team and it's in their timeline for fixing. We'll close this for now as they don't need any other info from users.

There's no exact timeline available for a fix, but we'd recommend you keep an eye out for updates to the app. We'll always work to fix issues like this in app updates.

Thanks!

Hey @whitesd2!

It's odd that this happens. Let us know what device, operating system and Spotify version you're using. Does the same happens when using the Sonos app? If possible try a clean reinstall with these steps. Let us know if it makes any difference.

Keep us posted.

Spotify Connect effectively limits playlists to the first 100 songs, no matter how big the playlist is.  This is a known issue.  Spotify labels the idea to increase the playlist size, "Not Right Now".  See link here:  Go to this link and add your vote to increase the playlist size.

Thanks for the update, it seemed like the behavior improved with updates pushed earlier this week (week of May 1st). Will keep an eye on it and provide additional updates.

It's not fixed.

There's a very simple test to determine whether the issue is fixed:

1) In Spotify use Connect(TM) to connect to a remote device

2) ensure shuffle is OFF

3) navigate to a track in the middle of your large playlist (say track 275) and play it

4) if the next song played after 275 is track 276, then it's fixed; however, if the next song is track 1, then it's not fixed.

Based on this test, the issue is not fixed.

Yes, unfortunately in my testing today, the issue remains, the queue is still cosntrained to a limited set of artists when I use shuffle and play to my Sonos device using Spotify Connect.

Hi Guys,

Shuffle with Sonos is still kinda wonky.

When I select a playlist, it shuffles around the letters (alfabetically) and still repeats that list.

For instance: 'The Pretender - Foo Fighters', the shuffle range is from artists starting with an 'A' till artists that start with an 'F'.

After I select something like 'Blues Deluxe - Joe Bonamassa', it shuffles from 'H' to 'L' or something.

It's really weird.

Thanks!
