MAJOR Problem: Spotify playback is noticeably too fast--- rushing the songs.
To be fair, most of Spotify playback seems to be at or near the correct speed for each song. Never have heard any songs playback too slow. However some Albums on Spotify (for example: Larry Carlton's album entitled "Larry Carlton" 1978;... songs like "Room 335) play so fast it's ridiculous. The whole album plays abnormally quick.
Larry Carlton, plays a guitar FAST, and with FLAVOR. That's his style and appeal.
But, as someone else pointed out, the playback "going at Chipmunk Speed",... totally messes up any chance of having even a hint of enjoyment from an album I know so well. Another album that plays back impossibly fast is "The David Grisman Quintet".
Songs like "EMD" on that whole album are a blur. When I was young, vinyl record turntables had a strobe light to make sure the album was playing exactly at the correct speed. If Larry Carlton or David Grisman heard how fast their material was being raced by the audience, I'm sure they'd be extremely upset. My advice to Spotify: If you can't afford, like Netflix, a "Contact Us" directly option on your website, then, perhaps allow your subscibers, listening to your recorded music cache, to have "a virtual strobe light/playback speed adjustment". I'm sure some genius in your company, or out there somewhere in cyberspace, has developed types... of software to adjust playback speeds on a site such as Spotify. Helpful Hint: The "button" to check, or further adjust the speed of playback to it's intended level, could be located directly near the "playback time", play, pause... section of the Spotify screen. This is my first month using Spotify and... I can't say enough good things about the service. I've found artists and songs and albums that even Google, or YouTube, couldn't find. Kudos and MUCH appreciation for this streaming music service. BUT,... for the love of God, please, either slow down the tempo of songs or entire albums reported to you as playing back too fast, or give the "strobe light" idea some consideration. These days of technology,... some folks have an external digital to analog converter hooked up to their laptop, or an external amp with a DAC. It's all supposed to be "asynchronous", but sure doesn't sound that way on this end of Spotify. Thank you for listening to us and thank you for hopefully letting us listen at the correct recorded speed for each song on your website in the near future.
