My Question or Issue

I've noticed this since last update.

Whenever I tap on song name in "portrait mode" (or whatever it's called), the app shows album info (correct) but the song currently being played is restarted (not correct).

Similar to this is when going back with de back button, sometimes spotify autoplays album as it is shown without me asking to play it.

Hey there folks,

This should be fixed.

If you're having troubles, please make sure that your device's operating system is on the latest updates available. You can also make sure to enable automatic updates for Spotify so your device is always rocking the latest version of the app.

If that doesn't do the trick, we'd recommend trying a quick reinstall by following the steps here.

Be sure to reach out in the Help boards if you are experiencing issues. Have a nice day!

same problem!!

I just want to check out the tracklist of an album by pressing the "song title", but after this update it keeps restarting the song it plays. I don't know why...

Please fix it. Spotify

Hey there folks,

Thanks for posting about this in the Community!

If you haven't tried it, we'd first recommend trying the steps below to perform a clean reinstall of the app on your Android device:

  1. Head here and click Remove all devices
  2. Go to your Spotify settings, scroll down to Storage and then clear the cache
  3. From the Android home screen, tap Settings > Apps
  4. Find Spotify in your list of apps, tap it and clear the cache and data. Then select Uninstall.
  5. Switch your device off and wait a couple minutes
  6. Switch your device back on
  7. Open the Google Play Store then search for and install the Spotify Music app

If that doesn't do the trick, it'd be very helpful if you could let us know some additional details, for example:

  • Your device and its OS version
  • The version of the Spotify app you're currently on
  • Does this occur when connected on a different internet connection?
  • Does this happen when playing certain albums/songs? If so, please let us know their URI so we can take a look on our end.
  • Does this occur when playing from a different device or our Web Player

Any screenshots of what you see when this happens would be handy as well. Just make sure that they don't include any personal/sensitive info.

We'll be keeping an eye out for your replies 🙂

I have the same issue in iOS (latest version 12.1.4) and can replicate on both iPhone and iPad.

I even uninstalled the app from both devices and reinstalled from app store, to no avail.

The workaround is super annoying: add the album or song to the queue, and then hit next track.

Otherwise, whether I hit shuffle play or hit a specific song, it just restarts the currently playing song from the beginning.

This fixed it for me
