Songs aren't streaming on Apple Watch

Hey folks, 

 

We're getting reports from Apple Watch users that songs aren't streaming.

We're setting this issue to Not Right Now as we're unable to provide an exact timeline for a fix at this moment. However, rest assured this will remain on our internal teams' radar and we'll check back in here with a new status when we have any new information to share.

 

In the meantime, make sure to always keep the app up to date.

I can happily confirm that the FIX is to delete the Spotify app if you haven't already and fresh re-install it from the Apple/Google Store. Your Apple Watch will detect and stream again with your smartphone.

 

PS: Software updating only will not solve the issue tho, only re-installing!

In this case, would you mind sending us the troubleshooting you’ve already done? We'd like to know what steps you've taken so far, so we can suggest some other options.

 

On another note, as @Eni mentioned above, could you send us a video recording of this behavior so we can have a closer look at it? You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google drive and make it public, so we can visualize them.

 

Lastly, can you share with us the Apple Watch OS along with the make/model and OS of the affected device? Please add the exact Spotify version you have running.

Issue stil there with WatchOS 9.1 :
when switch to WatchOS then the error message pop up I have to close then switch again to make it work.

 

You guys have the same problem ?

I tried to uninstall, lougout, etc... problem still there

O also have this issue with pro 12 and series 8 and it is veeeeery frustrating. Other music apps work very fine, I just have issues with Spotify, and listen my music without my celular was one of the reasons I bought an Apple Watch 😞

Could you let us know which troubleshooting steps you've already tried? That way we can avoid repeating any steps.

 

Also, we'd like to know if this started happening after a specific event such as an update.

I have a brand new Apple Watch series 8 with cellular and cannot play Spotify using cellular but can play Amazon Music and podcasts. The watch OS is 9.1, Spotify version is 8.7.86.510, and iPhone 13 Pro OS is 16.11.  I uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify on my phone and watch and it still looks like it’s buffering and never connects using my watch on cellular.  It plays fine with my phone nearby but when I leave my phone at home to go for a walk, it can’t play.

Hi there! Same problem here… just bought an apple watch series 8 gps+ cellular.


with phone in hand, spotify works perfectly. When leaving phone at home and using apple watch on cellular, spotify is able to launch, but  doesn’t play any music or load any playlists. Cellular network is working fine as I can use all other apps.

 

remediation steps taken to date without a success:

- reset and restart apple watch

- repair apple watch

- connect & disconnect network

- play from my phone and walk away hoping g it will continue playing but not

- delete and download spotify in both apple watch and phone

- download all the latest versions to my iPhone, spotify and apple watch

- and any other method mentioned on this thread.


i have a premium spotify account, my iphone is the 12 pro version 16.1.1 and apple watch is series 8 cellular, vodafone network version 9.1

this is super frustrating as there is clearly not an answer to this bug and the reason I bought apple watch was pretty much to use spotify on it without my phone.

Brand new series 8 watch version 9.1 with cellular and cannot stream Spotify. Amazon Prime music and podcasts are fine. Reinstalled Spotify app and still have problem.

  • exact Spotify version
