Spotify Connect with Pioneer XW-SMA4

Without warning, Spotify Connect has stopped connecting to my Pioneer wireless speaker. It fails across installations and on Android and Mac Desktop. 


My laptop still connects to the speaker for audio so the speaker is not the issue. 

I've tried re-installing the app too and it hasn't worked. 

Any ideas?

We're marking this as not an issue since Spotify doesn't support these speakers any longer.


If your Speaker is within this list, you can try using other connection methods to have it up and running again. Otherwise, don't hesitate to open a new thread.

Could you send us the OS and Spotify version you're running on each device? Also, let's try turning off your internet router for 30 seconds and back on before trying again.


Let us know how it goes.

I tried resetting the router without luck.

I'm using Spotify

Trying to connect with OSX 10.11.6

Same situation for me - can't connect from the spotify app on iOS or Mac to the Pioneer.

Just to confirm, is the speaker not showing under the available devices on the Spotify application any more?


If that's the case, let's try removing the speaker from your Bluetooth devices and pairing it again.


Let us know if that does the trick.


I am not connecting via Bluetooth; I am connecting via WiFi.

Spotify shows it in the menu, it just doeen't "stick" when I selectscreenshot_01.png it.

Does restarting your network router make a difference? Give it a try and keep us posted. 


@dogwolf, just to be sure, are you connected via WiFi or Bluetooth?

I have the exact same issue with my Pioneer XW-SMA 4.  The speaker no longer connects when selected on the Spotify Connect devices list.


Spotify has stopped support for a huge amount of speakers including both the XW-SMA3 and XW-SMA4. 
I have three of those speakers at home and all stopped working. If you've registered your email you should have got an email a few months ago.

I'm not a Mac user but i'm concidering installing itunes again as it supports the Pioneer speakers AND allows for multiroom streaming (Stream the same music to all speakers!) although i like Spotify better as a platform.

It seems Spotify is cutting development costs by stopping support for "Older" devices in the later iterations of the app. Sad....

I want under the impression that they cut support for the Pioneer app not
for Pioneer products inside the Spotify app. I got that email and looked
into it at the time and that's what *seemed* to be the gist of it.
