Spotify Connect with Pioneer XW-SMA4

Without warning, Spotify Connect has stopped connecting to my Pioneer wireless speaker. It fails across installations and on Android and Mac Desktop.

My laptop still connects to the speaker for audio so the speaker is not the issue.

I've tried re-installing the app too and it hasn't worked.

Any ideas?

Hey everyone!

We're marking this as not an issue since Spotify doesn't support these speakers any longer.

If your Speaker is within this list, you can try using other connection methods to have it up and running again. Otherwise, don't hesitate to open a new thread.

All the best.

Hey everyone!

The Spotify integration is indeed being removed for this speaker model. If the speaker has Bluetooth, you should be able to use that to play music.

We'll make sure to pass your comments to the right folks!

These are actually WiFi speakers actually so there is no Bluetooth support.

Another idea is to buy a ChromeCast Audio and connect it to the AUX input of the Pioneer speaker. It requires an additional power source but with a little luck the USB port on the Pioneer can deliver the 1Amp power needed by the Chromecast device.

For my three speakers it will require an extra investment of €120,- ($149) so i'm in doubt of getting the Chromecasts, buying new speakers or ending my Spotify subscription and look for an alternative with better hardware support.  I use Spotify in my car too and nothing beats the interface of Spotify though 🙂

I have the same speaker (Pioneer XW-SMA 4) and spotify connect stopped working about 2 weeks ago as well. I can neither connect from various Android Phones nor the Spotify Mac App. Reboots, Router resets etc. have not helped.

If support for these devices was indeed canceled by Spotify than that's a pretty **bleep**ty move. I bought this speaker especially because of its Spotify connect support. I am disappointed.

Wow. Same boat. I have two A4s. Just carried them to Europe, actually.

Spotify, make these work again. In the best case, you thought you were upgrading your software. Instead, you just hurt a great number of your customers. It's not too late to fix this for your customers who purchased hardware because you said it would work.
