Spotify Opens and Crashes on Windows 10 Home 64 bit system

Spotify desktop client opens and immediately closes every time it attempts to run, with one exception: The application does not crash until after a login is attempted after installation.  When I attempt to login using my facebook credentials I am directed to this URL:

https://login.spotify.com/login-auth-success/?csrf=36060d42ed3017b254042850cb851db1&port=4371&versio...

When I attempt to login using a Facebook App Password (as the above link suggests) the app seems to accept the login and then proceeds to crash just as it does after I attempt a normal FB authenticated login.

I have tried uninstalling Spotify, deleting all references to Spotify in the registry and in both C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\ and C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\  directories.

The app works on my Windows 10 Laptop. I did not install any software between the time when Spotify last worked and when it broke.  All troubleshooting methods above have been tested in all possible combinations.

Hey guys!

Update: I have been able to work around the issue using the "Run As Administraiter" launch option (Right click Spotify icon -> More -> Run as Administraiter).  Not sure why a music app would require admin rights.  Would still love to know why this occurs and how I can get Spotify to run without admin rights.

Hey @OKName

Thanks for getting in touch with our Community. We're glad you were able to find a workaround for this issue, but we'd like to troubleshoot first.

You mentioned it worked on your Windows 10 Laptop, but we'd like to know on what device and Spotify version is this issue happening? Also, is there a chance you can try logging into a different account?

Hope to hear back from you soon.

The device is a Windows 10 64bit Desktop (dirty upgrade from windows 7) that I built.  Spotify ran correctly on this system until a day or two before I posted the issue.  It has since occured to me that I've had this problem before and I likely forgot about it because I just set my Spotify shortcut to run as admin by default.

Happened to mine also.  It worked fine until updates installed.

Spotify update released this week seems to have remediated the issue.

That info was super helpful guys!

We're glad you're not having the same issue on the new version.

@JonteL, can you try reinstalling the app? Let us know if that helps.

Hope to hear back from you soon.
