Spotify PS3 app very buggy, plays one song and simply stops

The app frequently pauses, refuses to play songs, wont readily connect play to the PS3 from devices such as Windows Phone or Android devices. It will usually only play a single song then will just sit there, very rarely will it play more than a single track. It works flawlessly on all other devices but the PS3 app just doesn't function as expected. The only way to really control it is with a external device such as laptop or phone, the PS3 spotify interface is unresponisve most of the time.

 

I have no problems logging into spotify or the PS3 network, I have deleted and reinstalled the app from scratch and it makes no difference. Are there known, ongoing issues with users having terrible problems with using it on PS3 or is this an isolated incidence? Currently is is not usable.

Thanks for getting in touch and bringing this to our attention. 

 

Were you able to play music without any issues before? If so, did this start happening after a specific update/event? Also, do you get any error messages? In the meantime, can you try restarting your device, router and make sure your firmware is updated?

I keep the PS3 that includes the PlayTV up to date with firmware and software. i installed Spotify in december and since then even after installing it again it still does not perfrom correctly. The router is a top end wireless modem router but the PS3 is cabled to the device, the router is up to date with firmware also. I have tried all the typical things you mention but still no joy.

 

It is not very responsive when using the controllers or remote and seems to only work if using a connected device such as phone or notebook to control it. It will frequently play only 1 song but will sometime play an extra song before it stops, the only way to resume play is to manually start another track from phone or laptop and connect it to the PS3. The connected devices will also frequently loose connection and need to be reconnected. I am yet to get the PS3 to play an entire playlist. It's not currently useable the way it functions.

If it's possible, can you try using a different Spotify account with your PS3 to see if the issue persists?

No there was never a solution, it's still just as unusable as it ever was, the app is poorly coded and there's been little to no investment in improving it. I think.
