Spotify Premium sound quality on Samsung Smart TV (tizen)

Hi, 

I've seen this has been asked a few years ago, but it wasn't answered. So, the main problem is that I can't find a way to change the sound quality in the Spotify app on the new Samsung Smart TV. Is there an option, or does spotify still streams low bitrate music from that app? 

Higher bitrate music is the main reason I upgraded to Premium, but if I can't make use of it, I would have to cancel the subscribtion. So if there isn't an option to change the sound quality on the app (on Samsung Smart TV), are there any plans to add this option? When could we expect it to be available?

Audio quality is poor on a number of connected devices, including Chromecast, PS4, and Samsung Smart TV. These devices are typically connected to nicer audio systems than, say, a laptop, and yet the bitrate is worse...this is counterintuitive and frustrating.

Currently the Smart TV application streams in 160kbps. We're working on bringing high quality streaming, but we don't have any more information about it yet.

I really hope this is solved soon. I was very saddened to open the app on my new TV that just arrived today and find the sound to be full of static and pops due to the low bitrate. I've been a happy Spotify subscriber for awhile now, but this is a disappointment.

Dear Sir, Madam,

Could you inform on the status of the Tizen sound quality? I have a premium qccount which does no do anything for me on this Tizen app. I have to say the quality is quite apalling and amazes friends and relatives who come over. This does not do well on the image Spotify. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi Same problem here, Spotify sounds absolutely awful on Smart TV. This bitrate thing is crazy, we can stream HDR and 4K on Netflix, and cannot get 320 kbps on audio only ?! Please hurry on this, I have been using Spotify for years now, and it's a shame have to go back on Youtube (!!!) to listen music without awful quality.... Thanks in advance.
