Spotify Search Bar - Text Entered Backwards

Country

Device

Operating System

- macOS High Sierra (10.13.4)

Issue

- Text is entered backward in the search bar.  In addition, one is unable to highlight the text with ⌘+A.

Steps to Recreate Issue

1. Open Spotify in windowed mode

1. Type text in the search bar

2. Highlight the text and without letting go, drag the pointer to the left and above the search bar

3. Begin typing and the text will be entered in reverse order (cursor remains at the front of the search bar)

Note: (Not every location one drags to yields this strange bug)

English - U.S. here. Nothing obscure or weird, I would assume that
language/keyboard is a red herring in your root cause analysis. Spotify's
Mac QA (particularly automated UI testing) should be catching this on the
regular.

The root cause is much more likely to be a poorly implemented cursor focus
event or call that touches the search field. If I pause intentionally after
typing the first character in the box, the rest of my input works as the
universe expects. If I type at my normal speed without pausing, Spotify
keeps re-setting the cursor focus to position 0 (left) in the box after
each character I type.

This bug has certainly existed longer than it would take someone with
access to the UI source code to find and fix. Come on, Spotify team, you
can do it!

As the original poster of this bug, my spotify client is currently working as intended (for US, Greek, and Unicode Keyboards, although I don't think this makes much of a difference).  I cannot speak for others however.

If it should come back I will make a future post. (Maybe next time I can fix it as a Spotify Software Developer... @Guido)

None of this is working. My keyboard and language are fine. Please look into this. It's so frustrating.

Also having this problem and it's driving me NUTS. Text is backward 3 times out of 4 - in other words, it works but it takes forever. Looking at this it seems to be a persistent problem dating back more than one year, and that Spotify;'s response is the same: It's you, not us. That's silly. I know of no other program or app that does this - will you please fix this Spotify?

MacBook Air 2019, running 10.14.5 and newest Spotify version as of 6/16/19.
