Spotify Web Player in the Office

Hi guys,

Many have already brought this up - the new web player has broken the functionality of Spotify on Internet Explorer. I understand that Spotify has upgraded to support only the latest browsers.

However this means that many users in offices behind corporate proxies/firewalls are unable to access Spotify. In my case, I can get onto the web player fine, but when I click play, nothing happens. The proxy has probably blocked the stream for us.

From the solution to the folowing thread (https://community.spotify.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/001/thread-id/127491/page/1), it seems like the streaming method is the culprit. When the new player came out, something changed with the streaming method, which disallows office users from accessing the streams from behind a firewall/proxy.

I'm not sure if this was an intended side-effect of the upgrade to a new player, but it needs to be looked at and reimplemented since a large proportion of your premium userbase seems to be office streamers.

Thanks

Kai

I can't access the webplayer at all anymore from work.
Internet explorer: Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in Advanced settings and try connecting to https://open.spotify.com again. If this error persists, it is possible that this site uses an unsupported protocol or cipher suite such as RC4 (link for the details), which is not considered secure.

When I try with Chrome I get: This site can’t be reached

The connection was reset.

Try:

ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

Hey @2canKai and @HIM_Darling

This seems to be related to your office's network set up.

Could you guys make sure there's no restriction for Spotify?

We'll be waiting for you reply.
