My Question or Issue

At random times, my desktop Spotify client mutes itself. This is not a machine problem, the volume slider on Spotify literally slides itself down to mute at random times. Anyone know what causes this?

My Question or Issue

spotify keeps muting itself in the volume mixer on both my desktop and laptop. i have tried reinstalling spotify (and removing it's tmp/cache data). also a lot of songs are still greyed out. the best solution i got from the forums is "the song is not available for copyright reasons" which is not true since they work on my mobile device and spotify automatically throws these unavailable songs in a playlist then proceeds to play and lock up when it reaches the song.

I'm also experiencing this. I've noticed it when using Skype and I can't find anything recent online with info. I'm on a Lenovo laptop with Windows 10 app.

Hi there @3thanguy7,

thanks for reaching out to the community !

I would suggest the following :

- Making sure your device is updated

- Checking that your audio drivers are updated

- Reinstalling the desktop app

Let me know how it goes 🙂

My Spotify client on my Mac and Macbook Pro is automatically muting itself. This also happens with the Spotify player in the browser.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, restarted both machines, updated multiple browsers. Nothing works.

I have a premium membership, though not for long if this keeps up.

I also have suddenly gotten this problem. Windows 10, Surface Book 2, Norway, Premium.

This is happening to me too, and I use the app on our Mac at work, making it rather frustrating.

I've also started experiencing this lately with the desktop app on Windows 10.

Do you have any smart home devices like Google Home by any chance? I wonder if it's related.

I don't have skype, also on OSx. This is very much a spotify problem. As my Android phone will do it randomly too - also Google Home's will complain someone else is listening when they aren't.
Probably their buggy Spotify connect - another client probably has low volume and the client doesn't know which audio level to take.

I have also started having this issue on windows 10.

I've had this problem for a couple of days now.

First I thought it had something to do the my phone picking up that I was playing a song on Spotify (I don't know if this could be the problem).

Today it was happening multiple times in one song.

I have recently updated to the latest version. Maybe a bug.
