My Question or Issue

After playing a couple of songs Spotify starts lagging, the songs cut in and out and the TV starts getting slower too. Can't turn the TV off, can't go left or right in the Spotify app without a 30 second delay until something happens. This wasn't always the case, it has worked flawlessly before. Guessing some update ruined it. I can chromecast it to the TV just fine, but the app breaks itself and the TV.

Hey folks,

Thank you for reporting this issue to us.

We just wanted to let you know that the right folks are looking into this.

We're not able to provide an exact timeline for a fix, but we'd recommend always keeping your Spotify app up to date to ensure you're on the latest version. In the meantime, you can also use Connect as a workaround.

Thanks again!

Exact same issue here.  Lags and then crashes after 45 minutes to an hour of playtime. Sony X800D, Android TV 8.0, Kernel version 3.10.79, Spotify app 1.20.0

Unrelated, but it'd sure be swell if shuffle got even slightly less terrible too...

Hi, same issue since I buy my tv.
after ~ 30 mins playing music the tv is hard lagging. Can't do something with remote but the tv led receive the signal (led blink to confirm remote order) but nothing with software. It's the only app with this bug, the only way to use the tv is to put out of electricity ans restart.

Having the same problem.

TV: Sony KD-55AG8

Spotify Version: 1.20.0

Android Version: 7.0

Patch Level: 1st Jan 2019

Kernel Version 3.10.79

We noticed the lag after playing some songs but it also triggered after watching Netflix, letting the TV go to idle and then trying to play on Spotify. The TV remained on the Chromecast screensaver page but music played for a little bit, after 30 seconds the music started lagging and we were unable to control the TV with the remote (turn up the volume, turn off the TV). We had to unplug the TV to turn it off.

Same problem, sometimes only after 10 minutes of use. Model is Sony KD-55XE9005. Practically unusable, even TV can't be switched off, needs a hard reset.

Hey there folks,

Thanks for sharing these details.

Our tech teams are still looking into this. For those of you using a WiFi connection, it'd be helpful to let us know if your TV has a good signal to the router and (if possible) if switching to an Ethernet connection improves things.

We'll be keeping an eye out for your replies, thanks : )

I have a wifi connection with perfect signal.
Switching to ethernet does not improve anything (I have tried).
I don’t know much about computers, but it’s very obvious that something is wrong with the app itself, not working correctly with the android software.
I hope for a fix soon, as this problem is getting under my skin. I have been a premium user for 10+ years but I am very close to switching to tidal.

Wifi signal comes from a meter away, is not cutting off or anything. I don't have a spare LAN cable to do testing with that.
