Spotify on Roku taking a long time to load tracks then quits playing after 4-5 songs.

Status: Closed

This has been going on for weeks and it's driving me crazy.  I have to go all the way out and back, wait for tracks to reload only to hear 4-5 songs at which point it stops again.  I just upgraded to the Family plan and thought that might have had something to do with it.  It appears others are having the same issue so maybe that's not it.

I'm a heavy duty Spotify user.  It's on ALL the time in our home so I'm feeling the pain on this.  I've checked all of my connections on my end and everything checks out.  This includes restarting the Roku, uninstalling Spotify and reinstalling.  Works great everywhere else but not on the Roku which is where I use it the most.  Help!

Hey @user-removed,

Thanks for letting us know.

Could you tell us if you're seeing any error messages when the issue occurs?

/L

No error messages at all. Just stalls or freezes. Forgot to mention when it freezes the album pic goes black, the song will finish and then the music stops playing. You can't go forward or back. Only out.

Thanks for the info @user-removed

You can try to check if there are any firmware updates for your Roku device. Also, try reinstalling the app and restart your WiFi router.

Is this happening when you play music from your playlists, albums, artists or Radio? Let us know if it makes any difference playing from different sources.

Let us know how it goes!

Hey there @user-removed!

How are you getting on? Do you still need our help? If so, can you try what @FabianS_Bogota suggested on the previous post?

We'll close this thread up in around 48 hours. Don't worry though, if you need us to lend a hand we'll be right here.

Feel free to give us a shout at any time.

Thanks, and have a nice day 🙂

Our best,

Hi guys. Sorry. Chaotic few weeks. It is still happening. Here's the run down - all roku firmware updates are current. I've restarted my wifi and uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify on my roku. I've also restarted the roku several times.

Its still happening. I can't help but feel this may have something to do with getting the family premium plan. I could be wrong.

The he error occurs when I'm playing playlists. That's all I ever use really.  It doesn't matter if they are my playlists or not.

I I hope that helps. I understand you have closed he issue. That was my fault. Won't happen again. If you guys get this and can reopen it that's great otherwise I'm happy to open another one. Promise I won't check out this time. 🙂

lastly, we have no issue with Spotify anywhere else. Just roku. But it does suck. Just freezes after 5-6 songs and need to back all the way out.

Thanks for for your help!

Yep. I'm tagging on to the same issue that other folks have posted.

I'm having exactly the same problem. Spotify works great on laptop, desktop, at home, at work. In fact, working right now on laptop. But on Roku, some songs will play, and others just won't. If I press play, the play button blinks briefly, but no progress is made in the playback bar, and I hear nothing. Roku tech support suggested power cycling the router, but I can't see how that would help.
