Spotify on iOS 11 Battery Issues

Ever since I updated to iOS 11 on my iPhone 7s, Spotify has been extremely bad with battery drain. Sometimes it gets as bad as 10% charge gone in 15 minutes, or even battery drain while I’m charging my phone and playing Spotify through a Bluetooth speaker. 

On top of that, the phone gets very hot when I’m listening to Spotify. These battery and heat issues have been consistent for the past weeks and are only for Spotify, not any other app. 

Is there a way to fix this? Or am I waiting on an optimization update for iOS 11? Anyone else have this issue?

I can just say what worked out for me. And I only do it to be kind to other people in the community who’s suffering the same problem I did.

Even if you log in from Facebook I’m sure Spotify have some kind of user identification for your login.

Spotify uses something called A/B testing. That means that not all users getting the same features in the Spotify app. I can not say that my ide is correct. But, from my experience it looks like I was in a subgroup who’s affected by this bug.

Again, I can be totally wrong, just trying to help some people out with the bug since it takes a very long time for Spotify to solve it. I’m not here to argue wether something is right or wrong.

Dear joppsa2,

Thank you for your contributions to this thread. I have been quite awfully silent for a while to see if the app causes any drain in the battery.

I can clearly say that with the new updates the heating is lessened. However, the drain is quite major particularly when the battery is less than 50%.

Therefore, I decided to move to another music provider after giving it a month. I wish you all good luck!
