Spotify phone app doesn't play nice with cast devices

So I recently switched from google play music to Spotify. And I have immediately noticed flaws that don't exist when using google play music to cast to the google home

1 - google cast devices don't show up in the Spotify app unless I ask the google speaker to play the music. So I can't find a playlist on my phone and just cast it straight to the google home, because the google home is not showing in the device list

2 - when music is playing on the google home (enabled via voice control) and the device now shows up in the device list, if I then cast another song ect, I have no control over the volume *unless* I go into the google home app and control the volume from there

That's odd. Could you try giving these steps a shot? Those might help. Also, could you try a full reinstall of the Spotify app with these steps? Let me know how you get on! 🙂

Tried uninstalling Spotify, also cleared cache and tried 2.4ghz wifi 5ghz wifi and a hotspot from my phone, the problems still presist. 

My phone is a samsung s8+ on android 7.0

Could you try restarting your internet router? Let us know if it makes any difference. Also, are your Google Cast devices on their latest firmware version?

The problem seems to have ironed itself out over the last day. I can now see all my cast device and groups in device manager, and I also have control over the volume via the Spotify app

I haven't changed any settings and I'm using the same wifi/router

But thanks for the help, glad to know its there when needed 🙂
