Spotify playing on Galaxy Watch after phone call, unwanted

UK Galaxy Watch

I see this has been an ongoing issue with spotify on various phones and previously on the Gear S2 and Gear S3 watches. So was it ever resolved or was the solution just to delete the app off the watch/ phone? Given the option to downlaod playlists to the new Galaxy Watch launched Friday and attach bluetooth earphones it is somewhat detracting from my purchase. Any ideas anyone???

Hey,

Thanks for all of the new info here. We've let our tech team know, and they're investigating this. We don't have an exact timeline for a fix, but we'd recommend keeping an eye out for updates to the app. If we have anything new to share, we'll check back in here

Have a nice day all!

It has not been fixed. No update to the app since 2017. Happened to me today at work. I unsubscribed.

Thanks.

Gutted that this is still an outstanding issue. Especially as it is a major USP and large part of their advertising campaign and it doesn't even work. So embarrassed at work after taking a call the spotify struck up on my wrist!! Seriously considering cancelling my subscritption.

If you bought $50 worth of music from Amazon every year and put it in your phone, you'd still save a lot of money and not have another battery draining, and buggy app.

Good shout.

Can't believe how many posts are on here about the issue and still no resolution! Going well back into last year too.

You can always ask spotify for help. They will tell you to reinstall the app. Maybe reset your phone. You then have to log in again (buggy), re download your offline music, make sure you only have 3 devices saved for offline, and then have it happen again.

Hey @retrobod,

There should be a function on your watch called 'auto open apps' or something similar. Can you have this function deactivated and see if that works?

Also, have your devices up to date in both software and firmware, and update the Spotify app.

If that doesn't work, let us know more about what's happening, step by step, so we can have a closer look.

Thanks 🙂

I've got the same issue. (Galaxy Watch + Spotify)

Firmware and app are up to date.

"Auto open apps" Function is deactivated.

Issue is reproduceable with the following steps:

1. Take or make a phonecall.

2. End the Phonecall

3. --> Spotify Plays directly after ending the Call.

Thanks

Status changed to: Need more info

Hey folks,

Thanks for raising this issue with us.

We just need to gather a bit more info on this which we can then pass on to our tech team. To that end, please could you provide us with the following:

  • Watch and software version
  • Spotify version
  • Does this happen while connected to WiFi/while offline?
  • How much free space do you have on the watch?
  • Phone device and OS version

Also, could you please try the following troubleshooting steps if you haven't already:

  1. Reinstall Spotify on both phone and smartwatch
  2. Update phone to latest OS
  3. Restart devices
  4. Unpair the watch from bluetooth and then pair again

Thanks in advance,

P

I'm not uninstalling and reinstalling this app again. It's not our fault, it's your garbage software. Turning off auto open doesn't fix it, I've confirmed with others. Turning Microphone access off does, but it automatically toggles back on.

This is not a new issue. It's been posted dozens of times on different forums.

I already unsubscribed and I don't care to work for spotify. I already have a job.

Hello what is the fix to this issue? Whenever i play music in spotify on the galaxy watch and then close the app and then use any voice service on the galaxy watch (bixby, voice to text, make a phone call) spotify will immediately resume playing on the watch through the watches speaker.

This is unacceptable, i have tried

  1. Reinstall Spotify on both phone and smartwatch
  2. Update phone to latest OS
  3. Restart devices
  4. Unpair the watch from bluetooth and then pair again

I have the LTE version of the galaxy watch and do not require a phone to use it. However for your info the issue occurs with the galaxy s7, s8, s9, galaxy note 8, and note 9. Please provide a status update or i will be cancelling my spotify premium account and removing the app. I will also make sure all of my friends and family are aware. This ticket has been open for over a year and is currently marked as "Not right now" priority on another thread.

I work for a fortune 500 company spotify. Ball is in your court.
