Spotify playing on Galaxy Watch after phone call, unwanted

UK Galaxy Watch

I see this has been an ongoing issue with spotify on various phones and previously on the Gear S2 and Gear S3 watches. So was it ever resolved or was the solution just to delete the app off the watch/ phone? Given the option to downlaod playlists to the new Galaxy Watch launched Friday and attach bluetooth earphones it is somewhat detracting from my purchase. Any ideas anyone???

Hey,

Thanks for all of the new info here. We've let our tech team know, and they're investigating this. We don't have an exact timeline for a fix, but we'd recommend keeping an eye out for updates to the app. If we have anything new to share, we'll check back in here

Have a nice day all!

Since Spotify has shown very little interest in this issue,

I HAVE FOUND A FIX

Pause the song your listening to in spotify on the watch, go to recent apps and close spotify, THEN turn on power saving mode and turn it back off. This closes spotify until you open it again and is less of a hastle then restarting the watch 🙂

Thanks spotify glad I could do your jobs for you. Im and engineer and would never let this **bleep** fly with my team. Useless

Shame on you Spotify for this bug. This bug is here for very long time and not the first time... Over half year and your tech team is not able to make a fix? Wow you really care of your subscribers, you really do... Awkward that you're not able to provide a solution.

Same here - happening on the new galaxy watch. When I hang up a phone call, spotify just starts playing. weird and disappointing.

Another thread on the same topic - long time issue!!

The fix is easy. Return the watch or cancel spotify and load purchased tracks to work out to. The stock player works great.

If they haven't fixed it in a year, they won't start now. It's more embarrassing for Samsung since they partnered with such a poorly run company. I had an apple watch, I couldn't imagine this issue with Apple. I put up with Samsung's **bleep**, but I'm not giving spotify $15 a month.

This is beyond ridiculous! As others have pointed out this is not a new bug, it’s been reported many times on your own forums as well as other sites.

How can you mark this as “Not right now”!? Does anyone working at Spotify test these apps? Or even bother to replicate the issue? I’m sure you as a company could purchase a Galaxy Watch to test this out.

It’s a simple to produce issue that even occurred on my S3 watch! Here are the steps to take to reproduce this issue…

  1. Open Spotify on your watch and start playing a song
    2. Pause the song and either take a call on the watch or do anything that will make the watch use it’s speaker (Voice Control for example).
    3. After the watch has finished with the speaker it will continue to play Spotify music even though you paused it in step 1.

Here’s the scene…. You’re at work when your phone has an incoming call. You decide to ignore the call as you’re at work. When the phone stops ringing the watch starts playing whatever it last had open in Spotify. This is not good especially if you are in a quiet place with explicit songs coming out of your watch!

I’ve got a premium account and the new Galaxy Watch. I have 2 weeks to decide if I want to keep this watch, if this issue isn’t resolved I’ll cancel my family plan account with Spotify and return the watch.

Spotify have had over a year of people complaining of the same issue and have done absolutely nothing to resolve this issue!

Another user posted this, and I confirmed it does work. This is only a workaround, and it's still an issue that needs to be fixed - but will get you through the workday without embarrassment.

Hello, I have exactly the same issue: Galaxy watch connected to Samsung S6 via bleutooth. Spotify starts playing after phone call ends. Very annoying. Regards, David Belgium

Same issue here. I have the 46mm galaxy watch with the latest updates. Im cancelling my subscription to spotify now and im getting something else because they have known of this issue for over a year and they havent resolved it. **bleep** **bleep** im out.

I see this problem was reported a while ago, is there any update on this issue? I am having the same problem with my Galaxy Watch. Whenever I recieve a unanswered call on the watch (which is pretty much every call I answer via my cell phone and not my watch) my Spotify blast what ever music I was last listening to via the watch app. My only solution until this is resolved is to lower the volume on the spotify app so that its not as obvious to passerbys. I would ask that this issue be prioritzed if at all possible. I would also like to note I previously had the Gear S3 and did not have this issue with that device.

Watch and software version
Software Version - R805USQY1ARH8
Spotify version - 1.0 / Aug 17th 2003

Does this happen while connected to WiFi/while offline?
both

How much free space do you have on the watch?
965.3Mb

I would post the watch version (which is 4.0) and its a T-Mobile version (the forum won't let me post the model type)
