Spotify playing on Galaxy Watch after phone call, unwanted

UK Galaxy Watch

I see this has been an ongoing issue with spotify on various phones and previously on the Gear S2 and Gear S3 watches. So was it ever resolved or was the solution just to delete the app off the watch/ phone? Given the option to downlaod playlists to the new Galaxy Watch launched Friday and attach bluetooth earphones it is somewhat detracting from my purchase. Any ideas anyone???

Hey,

Thanks for all of the new info here. We've let our tech team know, and they're investigating this. We don't have an exact timeline for a fix, but we'd recommend keeping an eye out for updates to the app. If we have anything new to share, we'll check back in here

Have a nice day all!

So far I think the issues I was facing are fixed!!!!!

I have tested it out and will continue to report back. Music does NOT start
after hanging up a phone call. Offline mode works so that I can play my
downloaded content. I am very happy, it has been a long wait....

Seems that the new software update is awailable only for galaxy watch. What
about us ? ( galaxy s3 frontier )?

I think the update is location-based. I live in Spain (so Galaxy Watch EU
version) and I don't have an update available.

When you say Offline mode works, does that include ability to shuffle?

The update didn't fix everything. I still can't play music I have
downloaded or playlists that I have downloaded to my watch - when I'm
offline!! I have premium but need to cancel and switch to Tidal.

For listening music offline try: start listening to music with wifi on (not
sure if actual wifi coverage is needed). Play your downloaded list. Then
disable wifi in your watch (I assume you use BT headphones for listening
music). Make sure volume is up 🙂

Tidal is a good alternative. I like the sound and the watch app works well. The phone navigation could use some work, since it is not laid out very logically. But the watch app is good. Launching from the widget doesn't always work, but otherwise it is stable

I deleted spotify after they didn't fix the problems in 6 months  I can't believe people are still waiting on this **bleep** that will never be fixed

I just cancelled my Spotify Family subscription. Moving to Tidal in
February. I'll let you know how it goes

New Galaxy watch and this embarrassing issue crops up. Answer phone call from Galaxy s8 phone (not from watch), hang up and magically Spotify starts playing from the watch speaker.

Is a fix in the works?

Yes! Make sure your Galaxy Watch is up to date. Last 4 digits of the software version should be BSA4.
