My Question or Issue

When I try to play music on the website or the app, Spotify says I need to install the newest version of Chrome. I checked my Chromebook multiple times and every time it tells me that there are no updates. I tried downloading Spotify to my computer but that yielded the same results. I can still browse my playlists/music, but when I hit the play button I get this message. This is what the screen saysThis is what the screen says

Hey all,

Issue should now be fixed!

Try clearing cache and cookies if you are still experiencing and be sure that Chrome OS and your webbrowser are all up-to-date.

Let us know what the result is. Looking forward to your reply!

Have a nice day.

When I went to play a song on the web player an error occured reading, "Spotify no longer supports this version of Chrome. Please update your browser for uninterrupted listening." I checked for updates and there were none. My friends had the same issue. I can't download any other browser as this is a school laptop. Please fix this or let me know how to, I want to use your service.

Yes, I've been having this exact problem for over a week now, I'm frustrated that Spotify haven't picked up on any of the other threads that have already mentioned this.

Hey @Rasiadunn ,

Thanks for reaching out. I hope you're doing fine.

Could you please try to clear your browser and cookies?

If it doesn't do the trick, try an Incognito Window and a different account, and let me know how that goes.

That way I can find out if it's related to the browser or to your account.

Thanks 🙂

This is also happening to me but whenever I clear cookies nothing happens

Unfortunately, that isn't going to help. This has been a problem for nearly a month now, on several browsers including both Chrome and Firefox.
For example: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Other-Partners-Web-Player-etc/quot-Spotify-no-longer-supports-this-...
https://community.spotify.com/t5/Other-Partners-Web-Player-etc/spotify-web-player-not-working-on-lat...

As far as I know Spotify are actually aware of this, but it's getting quite frustrating at this point. @spotifycares haven't even acknowledged this. A lot of us are paying for a service we aren't getting here. At the very least can Spotify say something please.

In the mean time thanks to the experienced users like yourself trying to help, but it's a lost cause I'm afraid. If you have a way of communicating with Spotify staff please get them to... do something!

Hi. I’ve checked for updates a few times manually, and nothing showed. I am
using a school computer which is “controlled” by the school, however the
problem arose at home and I’ve never had a problem using Spotify at home
before. It’s a chrome book and the software version is 7.4 I believe.
Thanks for checking in about the issue and any updates are much appreciated.

@Rasiadunn's reply is in the same boat as mine.

I have a "school controlled" computer, but it has always worked at home just fine until now.

My current version is Version 75.0.3770.144 (Official Build) (64-bit)
and earlier this week Spotify was working, but then again, later today, it is now just not playing songs.
I am no longer receiving an error message, however, I am not able to play music. BUT I was able to about a week ago.
Thanks.

I've been having this same issue for a few weeks now and I have been more than a little dissapointed. I had updated Chrome fully and it still didn't work, I cleared my cache several times, this still didn't work. I knew other people were also having this issue, so I decided there was nothing I could do. But today I was prompted to update Chrome. Being overly excited at the possibility of Spotify to work I, of course, update immediately. It appears that the issue was with the previous Chrome update ( I tested Spotify on the previous version of Chrome right before I updated and was greeted with that all too familiar error message). Update to Version 75.0.3770.144 and all your spotify troublew will be solved.

Chrome is fully updated for me and it still doesn't work.
