Spotify says songs are unavailable. They are not.

When I try to play songs from some imported playlists. Most of the songs are greyed out and listed as unavailable. I get that spofity can't find the local files, but songs with the same name, same artist, same album are available as streaming. Spotify should be smart enough to figure that out and in the past it has been for the most part.

To reiterate, I can find songs with the title, artist, and album streaming but Spotify says it is unavailable while in the past it had no trouble.

Hey @lindenlz,

Welcome to the Spotify Community!

Let's first try a clean reinstall:

  1. Log out of Spotify and then close the program.
  2. Uninstall
  3. Browse to the cache. The default location should be C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\Spotify\Storage and delete everything inside the folder.
  4. Delete the folder C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\Spotify\Users\<user>\ There is a folder for each profile that has been logged into Spotify on that computer account.
  5. Reinstall.

Also, the issue might appear while using headphones, usb or bluetooth speakers. Try plugging them out and back in. Hopefully that'll fix it.

If not, this issue is being looked into in this thread. You should post there if you want to be in the loop of further developments.

Let us know how it goes though!

I did the fix and nothing changed.

The thread you linked to was created in 2015 and the problem apparently hasn't been fixed. Ridiculous.

Alfredo

Hey @lindenlz!

Thanks for trying the steps provided above.

Just to confirm, is this happening with songs from the Spotify catalog, or your own local files? Also, are your sound drivers up to date?

Keep us posted.

Yeah none of this works, its all the songs. I have uninstalled everything twice, im listening with pc with normal wired headphones. Says that song is not available no matter what song I listen. All my drivers are updated, you link into topics that link into other topics and none of them solve the problem. It happens with your songs on your program I have zero music on my computer.

Alfredo

Hey @TuukkaTL!

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

Let's try turning off Hardware Acceleration under View. Also, try heading to Edit > Preference > Local Files, and make sure all the folders are off. Even if you don't have local files, give it a shot please.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Alfredo,

Thanks for responding. This is only happening to playlists that I imported from itunes years ago. At the time I may have had them as local files. The name, artist and album for many of these songs match songs that are available on spotify streaming. Spotify should be able to find them online, and in the past it has been able to. I used to be able to double click the songs and it would play them from streaming.

Alfredo

Alright!

Just to confirm, if you search for the songs on these playlists via Spotify, are you able to play them, or do you get the same error message.

Also, if you create a new playlist using the same songs, does the same happen?

Keep us posted.
