Spotify stops playing via AirPlay

Spotify keeps stopping the Playback via AirPlay´2 on Apple TV 4K. Every now an then the Music stops (every 2 - 15 min, even happens on Bluetooth-Headphones). You then have to disconnect "remote Streaming" and reconnect. Then Spotify keeps working normal for about 15 min until it disconnects again.

Hi there!

I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? If that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstall of the app. Just follow these steps.

 

Try updating to iOS 13.1.2 and the latest version of tvOS for your TV


If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?

I'll see what I can suggest next!

Hi there, 

 

i updated everything (iPhone / Apple TV) to latest OS-Version and retried. Same Error. I gave Spotify a reinstall -> Same error. 

 

I found out: Everything is working finde if you keep using the iPhone -> Musik played well over AirPlay for about 20 Minutes. If you lock the Screen or let the iPhone "go to sleep" -> Music stops after about 10min.

Have the same problem, just some differences in devices: I have iPhone 8 Plus and Apple TV 4. After 15 minutes my Apple TV goes sleep. There's no such problem when I share music from Apple Music.

update: changed my Apple TV setting to sleep after 5 hours, now the music didn't stop after 15, which is where I had sleep set before (and where I would like it set). Annoying, but not nearly as annoying as before.

I've been having the same problem, iOS 13.1.2 iPhone xs Apple TV 3. I've just realized from this post that the Apple TV is going to sleep  music has been quitting after about 20 min. Restarted device, logout of Spotify, clean install. This doesn't happen with Apple Music. Thanks, Seth

I'm seeing the same issue.

Like one of the answers suggested, I restarted my AppleTV. This resolved connecting to the AppleTV.

 

Now, the AppleTV auto shuts off every 15 mins with the new tvOS when streaming from my phone over Airplay 2. I could change the Sleep After setting to 5 hours (from 15 minutes), but that doesn't seem like a long term solution.

 

This seems more like an Apple bug that hopefully Spotify can help escalate...

Quick update!

After a bit more research, turns out there is now a tvOS Spotify app available. Streaming through the new tvOS fixes the issue of the app turning off (and no need to set Sleep After to 5 hours). 🎉

Only this helps, but now you have to come up to TV, look for the remote control (because the iOS remote control is not working now properly with iOS 13!), switch on the spotify app and you can't change the volume from the phone. Steve, we so miss you!

Yeah, same problem here too. I had the Apple TV set to sleep after 15 minutes, and if my phone is not in other use than just Spotify playing music through AirPlay, the Apple TV goes to sleep at exactly 15 minutes.
