Spotify takes over bluetoth

Status: Closed
0 Likes

I listen to audio books every day in the car on my way to and home from the work and the book-app (Storytel) on my phone connects through bluetoth to the car. The problem that started just recently is that the Spotify-app on my phone allways starts when I start my car. Even if I havent listen to spotify since last time I drove my car. I have to kill the spotify app and start Storytel again. This is so annoying that I think I will remove the Spotify app on the phone. This has to be a bug in a recent update?

Hey @amollmark!

Can you let us know what device/operating system and Spotify version you're currently using? Also, what car do you drive?

We'll see what we can suggest.

jxxn

This happens to me as well.

iPhone 6+, iOS 10, Nissan Leaf, latest Spotify update

Hi, I use a Sony Xperia Z3+/android 6.0.1 and version of Spotify is 6.5.0.1816 armV7, inside a Volvo xc70 2016.

EstefanyA_Bog

Thanks for that info @jxxn and @amollmark!

Can you try reinstalling the app to check if it makes any difference?

@amollmark Could you try removing the app from your phone by following the steps here: https://support.spotify.com/using_spotify/troubleshooting2/reinstallation-of-spotify/? Then, connect your phone to a PC through USB, go to Internal Storage > Android > Data and delete a folder called com.spotify.music (or com.spotify.mobile.android.ui) before reinstalling.

Let us know how it goes.

Hey there @jxxn & @amollmark!

We hope you're well.

Just to check, is this issue still happening?

If so, were you able to try out the steps as suggested by @EstefanyA_Bog?

Keep us posted.

If we've not heard back in around 48 hours, we'll get this thread closed up.

Thanks, and take care 🙂

JuanSebastian

Hey @amollmark, thanks for trying those steps for us.

If it's possible, can you try using a different device on your car system to see if the issue persists? Also, can you let us know exactly when did this started happening?

@EstefanyA_Bog, are you still having issues with your device?

Keep us in the loop.

Yeah of course of course you close this...i have deleted Spotify from my phone so many times because of this I want to throw it out the window every time I go to play something Spotify hijacks and plays on top of it there is not a setting I have found that tells Spotify to shut up.
