Spotify using data despite playlist being downloaded

Seems spotify is using mobile data despite playing a playlist which has previously been downloaded to the device, this should not happen. The expectation is that the songs on the device would be played in order to prevent unneccesary streaming which drains the users mobile data. 

Bit annoying if the only solution is to restrict all mobile data access to the spotify app, when a simple code condition should surfice :  if song on device then play music on device else stream music from server ?

Hmm, that's odd. Does the Spotify app also use data when you've turned on Offline Mode? Also, does this happen after you reinstall the app and redownload your playlists? Let me know how you get on! 🙂
