Stuck on code activation screen after pairing account on Apple TV


Plan: Free

Country US account, currently in the UK


Device: Apple TV 

Operating System: tvOS 13.4.6 (17L570)


My Question or Issue:


Loaded the Spotify application, launched it, clicked the LOG IN button, received a six character code to input at No problem so far as it returned a message saying it successfully paired with my device in the UK. But the tv screen stays on the code page. 


When I try and launch the app on Apple TV all it does is give me another code to use to pair the device to my account. It never launches on my Apple TV device.

Could you try restarting your Apple TV? If you're not sure how to restart your Apple TV, follow these steps.


If that doesn't work, try to remove and then add the app on your Apple TV. You can do so following these steps based on the model you have.


If you're still having trouble, can you reply here with a screenshot or screen recording of what happens when you attempt to use the app on your Apple TV? Make sure to hide sensitive information when posting to the Community. Additionally, let me know what Apple TV model you have.

Having the exact same issue. Using a 4th gen Apple TV 4K.


  • DEVICE: Apple TV 4K (4th Generation - TV OS 13.4.6)
  • SPOTIFY VERSION: 1.10.32
  • TIME & DATE FIRST EXPERIENCED: 07.08.20 - 11:00 am PDT


Start the Spotify app, which shows the splash screen, then the log in screen. Upon pressing the ‘Enter’ button on my remote, the TV screen moves to the pairing screen and provides an activation code. I go to, and enter the code, and click ‘Pair’.


The web page then moves to the next screen saying that ‘pairing has been initiated’. I click ‘Pair’ again.


The web page then moves to the ‘pairing complete’ screen and tells me to close the window.


The TV screen, however, either remains stuck on the activation code screen (I’ve left it for as long as an hour), or it goes back to to the log in screen, and forces me to start the process all over again (i.e., an endless loop).


I have restarted my Apple TV 4K multiple times. I have deleted and re-added the Spotify app multiple times. At this point, I’m at a total loss as to how to resolve this.

I’ve tried turning on/off again (I’m in IT 😄), and I’ve deleted and reinstalled the application. It did not help.

Nodaclu’s below description below sounds just like my issue.

Could the issue be with account creation being USA associated and I’m trying to pair my Apple TV whilst in the UK?
One of the first things I tried, powering off/on and reinstalling the application, didn’t help (I’m in IT 😄). I’ll try to add some pictures shortly.
I'm having the same issue. Reinstalling the app and restarting the device don't fix the problem.

I’m having the same problem. Tried all the recommended solutions (restart Apple TV, reinstall app): It just keeps cycling back to the “log in” prompt on the Apple TV Spotify app and then giving a new 6 character code. Over and over. I think the TVOS app needs an update!

Hi everyone


I managed to resolve my issue. I'm in Canada now, but I originally registered for Spotify in the UK (and then moved my account to Canada). When I set my Apple TV's Region (under Settings > General, I think) to UK, Spotify worked fine. 


I do still think Spotify should look into this!

Having issues pairing. Get the code, Add the code to the account. I get a successful message on the computer, but the Apple TV can’t login.
