Track Not Available / Can't Play Current Track

Status: Fixed

I have had this problem for 2 days now, Spotify will not play anything on my laptop, it keeps saying "track not available". I've tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it, I've checked my firewall settings so that is not blocking anything, I've tried to change the playback device, I've tried turning it off and back on again, nothing works. On my phone it plays just fine. Never had this problem until I became a Premium user a few days ago. I don't know what to do anymore

Hi all,

We’ve received news that this should be fixed on most of the devices that were previously reported here.

If, unfortunately, you still experience playback errors on Windows, then this could occur for a number of reasons.

We’ve worked hard to ensure that Spotify will work with a lot of different hardware playback setups. If you’re still unable to play some music on Spotify in Windows, let us know in a new report and we’ll work with you to resolve the issue.

Going forward, could everyone ensure:

  • That you have the latest version of the app
  • That your device’s firmware is fully updated
  • That your connections are stable

Status changed to: Under investigation

Hey guys!

Thanks for the info.

If this is happening to you, please try unsintalling the app > restarting your device > reinstalling the app from our website.

If that doesn't help, let us know:

- Device/Operating system that you're using
- Version of Spotify that you're running

We'll pass this on to our team.

Happening to me as well. Also noticed sometimes the 'blue box' doesn't pop up, instead the song chosen to play will inta-skip to the next then that one will insta-skip, and so on and so forth to no end or until the blue box does come up. Radio does the same. I have tried unistalling/reintsalling, unistalling -> restarting -> computer -> reinstalling, unistalling  -> deleteing and cleaning every trace of spotify from my computer -> restarting -> reinstalling, to no prevail.

Windows 10

I have too this problem... windows 7 home premium Spotify

Hey @Peach3s Can you try these steps to fix the skipping issue? Let us know how it goes.

@przemek81 We've also made sure to pass both of your info along to the right team, in regards to the message you're seeing.

Keep us posted.

Same issue this morning. I was able to play my playlists yesterday, but searched songs would give the error "unavailable try from your computer" but now this morning EVERY SINGLE SONG AFTER MULTIPLE UN/REInstalls Is giving the error of unavailable try importing...

BTW: Confirmed same issue for co-worker sitting across from me. Works on phone, NOT on PC. He has a Premium account, i do not. Seems to be PC Specific.

Hey @lame2,

Are you and your co-worker currently using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) or proxy?

Also, can you let us know which Device/OS and Spotify version you're using?

My Spotify will not play anything, however, when I click "play", it will cycle through ALL tracks at light speed without any sound. I've ALREADY uninstalled, reinstalled, so the stalling technique of "try to uninstall while we try to think of something" won't fly here.  We need some real answers or subscriptions will be dropped. I'm a Premium user on the family plan with 3 devices I'm paying for.

Desktop issue

Windows 10

Latest version of Spotify.

Same problem. My Spotify used to work on this PC. Now it will play nothing. Just skips the numbers in the playlist or says "This song is not available...."

Tried uninstall, boot, get version from, install. Issues persist.

Spotify is bugged for PC. Works on my phone.

When do you expect a fix for this?

Windows 10 64bit

Spotify version

Having same issue, however will work fine on my phone.

Tried: deleting the C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\ and C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\ folders.

Tried: reinstalling

-  Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1

- App Version:

Additional Info:

- Not connected to Facebook or

- Not Premium

----Resolved: Deleted the C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\spotify\storage folder and the user name folder under there.

Same issue. Cannot play on desktop, ok on Android.

Uninstalled, reinstalled latest version. Checked: uninstall does remove the Spotify folder from AppData\Local and AppData\Roaming.

Win 7, Premium account.

And, I can't seem to find where to download old versions that are specifically hosted on; apparently Spotify doesn't provide old versions?
