Tracks don't play after audio driver update. "Track not available"

Status: Closed
0 Likes

Just finished reformatting my laptop and reinstalling my drivers to find out my audio driver update fudged my spotify install.  I can't seem to get any tracks to play - they all say they aren't available.

Leaving the country in a few days.  Really hope I can get this fixed.

I've tried everything.  Uninstalling, reinstalling, revo uninstalling, registry removals, appdata and cache folder removal...  the problem is even persisting through a downgrade - as many people have suggested in the forums.

I'm at a loss for words.  This is VERY annoying.

Seems to be related to a realtek audio driver update, but even after a rollback, spotify remains broken.  Was working fine not 5 minutes prior.

PLEASE HELP!

Hey @monsieurtalbot! Sorry you feel this way, we'll get to the bottom of this.

What operating system and Spotify version are you rocking? Also, does it happen when switching audio output e.g. headphones to speakers?

Have you tried a clean reinstall? If not, give it a shot and let us know if that works.

We'll see what we can suggest.

Hey @monsieurtalbot, we haven't heard from your in a while.

Are you still experiencing the same issue? Also, did the reinstall do the trick?

If you're still having issues let us know, so we can help out.

All the best 🙂

After a lot of tinkering and happening across the issue in VLC player as well i managed to track the issue to the "sound effects" in my realtek sound driver.

Something about the anniversary update...  The latest realtek sound driver and the compatibility of this version of Spotify with those features in particular.

I lost my ability to use my built in EQ for my laptop's subwoofer...  But Spotify is working after disabling sound effects in my playback devices within windows.

It's not directly Spotify related but the error messages for these types of issues are extremely cryptic on spotify's end.  Took a lot of time to track this solution down.

Reinstalls did nothing ...  Driver reinstalls did nothing ...  Only my solution above.
