My Question or Issue

Hi!

Since like three days ago, my Spotify app won’t work when I’m connected to my wifi even though I am connected to the internet and everything else works fine. Also I don’t think it’s an issue with my router because it had been working just fine until three days ago. I have tried reinstalling the app, turning my phone off and then back on, but nothing seems to work. Please help!

Hey folks,

Thanks for your patience while we looked into this issue.

We’re happy to say that this should now be fixed for everyone! Just make sure your app is updated to the latest version.

If you're still having trouble, make sure to post a new thread in the relevant help board here.

Thanks!

Hi there @hwapickle,

Thank you for your post here in the Community. We're happy to help.

Can you confirm if you followed these steps when you performed reinstallation of the app? This is different from a quick reinstall and could be helpful to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.

Another useful step to do is to restart your router.

 Keep us posted 🙂

Take care!

Following those steps and then reinstalling worked, I didn’t need to restart my router. Thank you for helping!

Hi, same problem keeps occurring in my app too. I use iPhone 11 and following these steps didn’t work for me. Can you please help?

Hi there @Keremm,

Thanks for your post on this thread.

Can you let us know if you already tried restarting your router? If that doesn't do the trick, could you let us know if the same happens in any other device where you use the app that's connected to the same WiFi network?

We'd also like to know if the same happens when using a different WiFi network. This would help us narrow down the possible cause of the issue.

Keep us posted. We'll be on the lookout.

Yes, I tried restarting my router and nothing changed. App still says "Connecting..." at the bottom of the page and it never disappears. Only when I disable my WiFi connection, it goes for a while but when I connect WiFi again, it comes back.
Also, a similar issue happens on my pc (windows) which is connected to the same WiFi. I tried reinstalling spotify with the steps you shared but it does not say "Connecting..." but instead, when I try playing a song it says "this content is unavailable" ( or something like that - my spotify app on pc is in turkish ) and I can't play music from there either.
Thanks for your quick response.

Hey @Keremm,

Thanks for your reply.

There seems to be an issue with the connection itself as this is happening in multiple devices with the same network. Did you get to try it with a different WiFi network to see if the issue persists? If possible, try using a mobile hotspot from your phone on your computer to see how it works.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Keremm
Yes, you're right. It is because of my WiFi network. When I tried with a hotspot it worked really fine for both devices. I know it is now off your field but I have no idea about how I can fix this. Do you have any recommendations?
Keremm
The network is all fine for other apps or I can surf the net with no problem but when it comes to Spotify, there is this problem.
CarlosE

Hi @Keremm,

Thanks for trying and keeping us posted.

There must be some network configuration interfering with the data sent and received by Spotify. There are a couple more things you can try.

In your phone's settings, make sure that Spotify doesn't have any toggles or settings that blocks the app's WiFi usage.

In your PC, you can try clearing your hosts file by following the steps in this guide.

If none of those do the trick, it's worth reaching out to your network provider for further info on what might be causing this.

We hope this helps. We'll be right here if you need anything else!
