Unable to launch, uninstall, or reinstall Spotify

Hi! I am in desperate need of help to get Spotify working on my pc (windows 10) again!

First, the program won't run, and pops up a notification from windows that I need to install the app again. I then tried to uninstall Spotify from my pc, which seemed to have worked as the program no longer shows up in my control panel under programs, but when I tried launching it again, I got the same message from Windows. I then attempted to download the client to see if I needed to do a fresh reinstall, but the .exe won't run because it says I already have it installed on my computer!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!

Hey @tc87!

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

Let's make sure you follow these steps to do a clean reinstall. Also, make sure you have Administrator access to this desktop.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Alfredo!

I tried uninstalling the program using the steps above, running as an
administrator. The problem is, the program doesn’t even show up in the
control panel.

I did a full search of all the files on my pc containing the keyword
“Spotify” and have tried to manually delete them, but afterwards they seem
to pop up again.

I tried rebooting my pc without an internet connection and figuring out
things from there, but no progress there either.

I tried downloading a new client of Spotify online but when I launch the
.exe it says I already have a version of Spotify installed.

Then I found a shortcut icon for the app on my start menu. I tried
launching the app but then a Windows 10 message pops up saying it can’t
launch. Then running as an administrator, I tried right clicking on said
icon and uninstalling the program from there, but nothing happens!

Alright!

Around when did this start to happen? Was the Spotify app working without any trouble previously?

In the meantime, try starting your Windows in Safe Mode to completely remove the Spotify app from the system before trying to install it again.

Cheers.
