User's Top50 Artists

Hey, guys!

It's not really an issue I have, but I'm curious about the algorithm that defines our top played artists. I wanted to know what are my top artists, 'cause I use Spotify all the time. So I went on the Developer's site, I found out this:

"Get the current user’s top artists or tracks based on calculated affinity.

Affinity is a measure of the expected preference a user has for a particular track or artist. It is based on user behavior, including play history, but does not include actions made while in incognito mode. Light or infrequent users of Spotify may not have sufficient play history to generate a full affinity data set."

Does anyone know how this works exactly? Is it based on the frequency or variety of musics that you listen from a particular artist?

I found out this website as well: http://107.170.81.187:8080/public/top

Is this accurate? Or does anyone know where it came from?

I know it's a lot of questions hahaha but thank you all in advance! 😉

Hey @aliceshazan, welcome to the Community!

Your top played artists is based on the artists you listen to the most when not using a Private Session.

We hope that clears everything up.
