Windows 10 user who is experiencing the same issue. Used to be when I searched for a song, if I kept it selected, it would stay on-screen after I deleted the text from the search bar. For whatever reason the programmers at Spotify decided to screw with the functionality of the search box & broke its utility for searching songs in a playlist to start listening from. This wouldn't be an issue if playing searched songs worked intelligently (as in, actually resuming the playlist as opposed to playing literally only the search results), but with how it works now the search function is essentially meaningless. Hoping this is a bug, because if this is just a general design choice being applied to every client, it's actual trash garbage.
