[iOS] High battery drain with Spotify on iPhones with iOS versions 14.8 and 15.0

Hey folks,

Thanks for your reports about battery drainage while updating from iOS 14.8 to .15 on both firmware versions during the past days.

We’ve passed your info on to the relevant team and we can confirm they are currently looking into it.

If you’re experiencing this issue, make sure to click +VOTE and Subscribe to the thread to be notified of any developments.

Aside from trying restarting and/or a clean reinstall of the app, it'd be great if you'd give disabling Background App Refresh a shot: this could be found under Settings -> General -> Background App Refresh.

Thanks! We’ll keep you posted and let you know as soon as we have any updates on this.

Good news!

There’s a new version (8.6.64) of Spotify available in the App Store. The latest version includes fixes and improvements that should eliminate the stability and performance issues affecting a subset of iOS users.

If you have automatic updates switched on, you should have the newest version shortly.  If not, you’ll have to update the App manually. You can find step-by-step instructions for updating Spotify here.

I just updated to iOS 15.0.1  and just got the Spotify update - 8.6.64.1164. Tested for 10 mins and appears it is fixed!

Just updated to the latest version of Spotify and so far so good. Still mad about the lack of communication tho, ngl.

It LOOKS like the m=update just released has fixed the problem. I will keep monitoring it throughout the rest of the day

This issue has been going on for more than 2 weeks…

As a very avid music listener this isn’t what i’m paying for.

Very disappointing to see this happening and not being resolved quickly.

Will have to move to Apple Music if this continues.

The new update 8.6.64.1164 seems to have fixed this issue

But as always - Spotify development occurs “silently” — without any communication, without acknowledging the bugs and without letting us know what was really changed/updated. In another thread about liked status (heart) bug I compared that to users being treated like the cult followers by some unavailable Egyptian priests who can “hide the Sun” or summon it back.

Thanks Spotify

Looks fixed to me too after the update but I have to say this experience has left quite the sour taste in my mouth toward the company’s customer service.

Yeah, it was fixed almost secretly, as if „under cover operation”, without once acknowledging that the problem even existed.

Also updated here to version 8.6.64, seems to be fixed, no crashes and no heating up anymore. But - now I cannot download/synchronize local files of a playlist  from my desktop PC anymore to the mobile device Wi-Fi as before.

Dear Spotify-Team: did you really fix the existing bug or just moved the bug to somewhere else?
