[iOS] Local files syncing and playback issue

We’ve received some reports that newly added Local Files aren’t syncing with the phone and either do not show up at all in the playlist or even if they do appear to be correctly downloaded they still don't play.

 

We can confirm the right team is aware of this and is looking into it. If you’re experiencing this issue, make sure to follow the instructions in the Status Update below, add your +VOTE and subscribe to this thread so that you'll be notified as soon as there are any updates.

Thanks for reporting this and providing us all the relevant info. 

 

We've passed your details on to our developers and they have already rolled out a fix to improve the experience reported. 

 

We are aware that some users still have trouble syncing their local files with their iPhones, but this seems to be affecting specific devices or setups and requires individual troubleshooting - It'd be great to follow the steps you'll find here under Didn’t work?

 

We’d also recommend you try a clean reinstall, which will remove any corrupt data from your device. Just a heads-up, this will remove all your downloads and you'll have to download everything again.

 

If that doesn’t do the trick, you can post in the relevant help board and we’ll see if we can think up some other things to try.

I'm personally going to rule out that it's a network issue as I've played other 14 local files on my phone with no issue. Other people are having this issue as well with very likely different songs so it seems to be an issue with spotify's "recognition" system

Today I performed a clean reinstall for both my mobile and deskop Spotify according to the posted instruction. When I opened the apps the playlists that were broken before were synced now (I could change the songs order on deskop and mobile would respond to that) and the local files that supposedly made them broken were gone. But as soon as I added a local file to the playlist on deskop it broke again (changing song order wouldn't appear on mobile, also the added local file wouldn't appear on mobile as well).

I also tried connecting to a different network (I made a mobile hotspot) but it didn't do anything.

I'm in the exact same boat, also only since yesterday! Can't add new local files to my playlist, they will only appear on desktop but not on my phone. Definitely some weird spotify issue as many people are reporting this now.

@Elena Can you please forward this issue to the technical support team? It's clearly not the users fault and has to be a new bug on spotify's end.

Sure, As you said, its seems that we are having issues with the Local files and our best tech folks are still looking in to this, sorry to keep you waiting. I understand this must be frustrating, but hopefully it shouldn’t be too much longer for a fix.

I've been having the same issue here... any time I add any local file on my computer to a playlist, it breaks that playlist's ability to sync between devices. Have been talking to support for 2.5 hours (!!!) to no avail. Can someone please investigate/fix this?

Literally. Spotify support doesn't give a fu**. We are paying customers and they don't care about this issue and try to blame everyone but themselves for this. What a circus
