iPod Touch not uploading metadata to Car Headunit

Status: Closed
0 Likes

Device: iPod Touch 4th Generation

Operating System Version: iOS 6.1.6

Spotify Version: 5.6.0

Description: Just got a new 2016 Toyota Camry. I've always used my iPod Touch through the USB connecter in my past vehicles so I can play my spotify playlists without interrupting my iPhone bluetooth connection (FYI - my iPhone & iPod is separate because I don't have enough space on my phone for music. And I like to keep my iPhone hooked up to the Bluetooth for any incoming/outgoing calls, so I don't like to use my iPod through Bluetooth - USB only). When hooked up to the USB in my new car, the first song will register and send all metadata to the car's headunit and it displays fine. But as soon as I change the track, no information will display. I can navigate tracks through steering wheel controls but the fact that no data is showing up is quite frustrating. The album photos show up but no ARTIST or SONG information after the first track. If I disconnect the USB, then plug back in, the data on the new song will display. But once the next track comes on, once again the data is lost. It works perfectly if it's hooked up through Bluetooth, but like I said - I want to keep the bluetooth hooked up to my phone & use iPod through USB. This is EXTREMELY annoying for me since I use the data constantly and never had any problems in my old car (2010 mercury milan). Please help!

Hi @xjennax13!

Can you let us know the stereo manufacturer and system of your new Toyota? Also, is it the same you used on your old car?

Give it a go with a different device and stream your tunes.

Let us know how it goes 🙂

Laura
