"New releases for you" missing

Hello,

this section under Discover has gone missing out of the blue. I used it frequently. It's gone both on desktop (mac os 10.12) and iPhone. Tried restarting and logging out and in but to no avail. 

Is there a fix for this?

Can you let us know the Spotify version you're using? Also, did this start happening after a recent update? It'd be a great help if you could send us a screenshot of what's showing instead of this section. We'll take a look. 

In the meantime, please try reinstalling the app. Here's how.

Hi Sophia,

thanks for replying. As the section is missing both on my iPhone and desktop I doubt reinstalling my desktop client will solve the issue. I don't think I had updated when it happened, but again it's not visible on my handheld either so this to me indicates it's something on your end.

My desktop version is 1.0.53.758.gde3fc4b2. Screenshot is attached, where the section use to be is now "Because you listened to ...."

We've taken a closer look and found the New Releases For You function has been updated to Top Recommendations For You. 

In this case, we'll make sure to pass your feedback on to the relevant team. Hopefully, we'll have it available again.

Hi Sophia,

sorry to hear it was removed. Can I ask why? Top Recommendations for you was an already existing function, so I'm not sure how you would consider it an update to simply remove a feature.

I've been a Spotify user for 10 years, and while it's been largely a good experience so far the increasingly common sudden removals of functions without any notice or explanation has got me looking at alternatives. I really think you need to work on your user communication and not decide, on what feels like a whim, to remove things that people are using daily.

Thanks for your patience. In order to get to the bottom of this we'll first need to make sure no stone is left unturned. If it's not too much trouble, would you mind giving a reinstall a go on both of your devices? Let us know how it goes and we'll take it from there 🙂

thanks for looking into it. 

So I reinstalled the apps on my desktop and on my phone and as I suspected it didn't have any effect. Still no "New releases for you".

Sorry for the confusion, @martinn.

We removed New Releases For You function and changed to the Release Radar function. Release Radar is a totally personalized new releases playlist that is refreshed every Friday with 1-2 hours of music released over the past few weeks.
