Alexa won't play any songs

My Question or Issue

Whenever I tell my Alexa to play a song, it says the song name + artist and it says on Spotify yet it continues to play the current song playing. After the song finishes it goes onto the next song in my playlist but I can no longer control it with the app or voice

Since when are you experiencing this issue?

Have you tried to restart your Amazon Echo device to see if that makes any difference?

And be sure that your device got the latest firmware update.

I am having this exact same problem with my echo auto. Used to work fine. As of a couple weeks ago, it no longer works. If you ask to play a song or playlist, Alexa says the song/playlist is playing, but nothing plays. Going to the Spotify app, no song is selected. 

Alexa works perfectly fine for all other non Spotify tasks.
