Bug - Skype and Spotify

I am having issues with Spotify when trying to use headphones with Skype. When I plug in headphones for a Skype call the music won't play through the headphones and insists in playing through the laptop speakers, hence I have to mute the music. I have a PC, Windows 7. I usually try and do this when playing online video games while trying to listen to music at the same time and being on a phone call also. Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

I think this happens with all music apps unless you change some settings as suggested in this skype thread.
