Can I use a Sony MP3 to download my music?

I am brand new to Spotify... after looking over the "device" section, it looks like I won't be able to use my Sony MP3 to download music. Is this true (please tell me I am wrong... I don't want to buy an ipod)?

The only way to play Spotify catalogue music on the go would be to use a compatible device that can run the Spotify application (iPhone, iPod touch, Android, Symbian, Blackberry phones, and so on). In terms of MP3 players, you can sync your computer's local files using Spotify on the iPod Shuffle, Nano and Classic - Currently, these are the only MP3 players we support.
