Changing the link to share your profile

When i try to share my profile link and i want to copy the link to my account it shows up like this: https://open.spotify.com/user/1175705232?si=qOdN2L4wTYm-dPDmYcG-dQ

Is it possible to change this like with your username or such instead of all those numbers and letters?

The link you posted can be made shorter - you don't need anything starting from ?si= in the address, so the functional thing can look like this:

https://open.spotify.com/user/1175705232

It's not possible to alter the username in the address. If you want to create a Spotify link with your name in it, I suggest using tinyurl. The custom alias allows just that. 🙂

The link created will redirect to your Spotify profile.

I have figured this out.   

1) From the PC view of Spotify click on your Spotify Profile Name

2) Right click your profile picture and hover over "SHARE"

3) Left click "Copy Profile Link"

4) Paste it onto any one of your messages.  Here is an example of mine...

5)  You will have to alter that in order to have a Spotify Button link to your Spotify Profile.  

spotify:user:peppaface2 (THIS IS MY SPOTIFY URI)  You don't need this but you will use this to alter your Profile Link in step 4.

If the profile name has a space, ie., "blue monday" - is it possible to have an url with the name? I tried https://open.spotify.com/user/blue%monday and https://open.spotify.com/user/blue_monday to no avail.

Thanks for the question.

The name blue monday with a space between the words is the account's display name. 

This name shows up on your profile in the app and people can search for it directly to find your account.

It's not possible to use your display name in the URI and URL link as it's not a unique name and you're also able to edit it.

Your account also has an automatically created username that usually is a string of letters and numbers.

This is why users might see a string of letters when trying to share their account - this is the unique username assigned to their account by the system.

Welcome to the Community - We will be happy to help out!

If your account was created through Facebook or is connected to your Facebook profile your full name (Facebook name) will appear as the display name. 

You can always disconnect your Spotify profile from your Facebook profile. More info on how you can do this can be found on our Support page here.

You can also follow the steps here to change your display name.

Thanks for reaching out about this.

Take into account that the link shows the account's username, which is different than the display name and can't be modified. You can obtain more info about this here.

If you originally set your full name as your account's username when you created it, it isn't possible to change it. In that case, you'd need to create a new account. New accounts are assigned a random alphanumeric number by default, which can't be modified either and will be the one showing in the link.

In case you want to create a new account you can use the steps here to transfer your music collection over to the new account. Also, if you have Premium, you'd need to cancel it before subscribing again in the new account.

I think they took it away so it didn't say people's names if they linked it with Facebook like I did. (For Safety Reasons).  It used to work.  Now it's just a URL link with your Spotify that takes you to their Spotify profile (Which will still show the person's name if they have it set up via Facebook)

How is it still not possible to replace the random alphanumeric username, or at least use some kind of easy to remember alias for your profile URL?

I like to use the same username / profile name everywhere, so people can easily find me or I can easily share my profile.

I don't understand why Spotify makes this so difficult...

My sister has her username as spotify.com/user/chinnyalexis 

But I never know how this happened, but I think it happened a few years ago.
