Chromcast - no sound

Solved!

Chromcast - no sound

Hello all,

I have a premium Spotify account, and a chromecast gen2. Previously I could use the casting option, but lately there is a problem. If I choose my chromecast as other device I cant hear music (however according to the app it goes) and on the tv screen I can see only the Spotify logo.

What can i do?

A new update was released today for Spotify Android app, version 8.4.18.743 armv7, that fixed the problem, at least for me. I can now cast Spotify to my Chromecast again, with audio...

I still have 8.4.17 on iOS and that's also the latest in store. How can I force to update?

Try switching to different hdmi-port, if you're playing through iPhone can you restart your phone. Let me know if this fixes it for you.

I am using Android app, and tried both advices. Still the same. Any other
advice? Thanks in advance

This might sound kinda weird but make sure your Android phone is not muted, if it is muted then unmute and push volume up button.

I checked that as well. When I try to connect to the chromecast it says:
connecting than again: there are other devices... So it seems Spotify cant
connect to my chromecast lately. But why?

Also make sure you dont have Power Saving Mode enabled on your phone, more info below.

Also try to factory reset your Chromecast, tutorial below.

Then I also recommend you to change your WiFi password in your router.

I tried all of it, but still nothing.

You can also try older Spotify version, link below.

And also try to uninstall and reinstall the Chromecast app on your phone, not really sure which one you're using.

EDIT

Also can you open up Google Chrome on your pc and Cast a Tab to see if it's working.

I tried a previous version, but it still the same.

Can you try to cast a Chrome Tab to see what happens, a YouTube video would be great. If you get audio then there might be a bug in Spotify app.

i forgot to mention: youtube app works properly.

If you have a friend who has an Android phone and Spotify it would be great if you could test out your Chromecast there, just for narrowing this issue a bit more.

I have noticed something strange: it works when i cast music i saved for offline listening, but if i try other songs it fail again.. My router can cause this?

That might be, try to reset your router back to factory settings, maybe your router received a bad update which messed up some settings. My Asus router automatically downloads and installs the latest firmware and I have to quite often reset my router.

I apologize that I totally missed the Issue Report below.

There was a message though saying that Chromecast received an update which might also fix your issue, I think you update Chromecast through Google Play. I haven't used Chromecast so I have no idea where to update it.

I also have lost the functionality of casting spotify via chromecast, all volumes say it's working not muted. App opens, album artwork visible, even shuffles and unshuffles visibly still no audio. It's been a few weeks. Apps are up to date.

I'm also experiencing this. Is there a solution?

Also here for a solution.

Both are up to date.

Other apps work.

Same thing here.
