My Question or Issue
Hello, I would like to submit feedback about the redesign of the 'Now Playing' screen in the Fire TV app, which has been updated at some point over the last week.
Previously the app displayed a minimalist screen that showed a nearly full-screen version of the album artwork for the song currently playing, over top of a gradient background (based on the colors from the album art). On each side of the main album cover were smaller album covers for the 2 songs just played (to the left), and the next 2 songs in the queue (to the right).
The name of the artist and the title of the song were beneath the main album cover along with the controls (play, pause, timeline, etc.).
This was a simple, elegant design. The changing gradients were incredibly beautiful, as was the 'carousel' version of showing the queue. An example image is attached.
Now, the background seems to have been replaced by a very grainy and very dark version of a photo of the artist (sometimes you can't even tell what the photo is, because it's a darkened version of a photo that was dark to begin with!) that is visually unappealing. The album cover remains, but has been reduced to about 25% of the previous size and has been relegated to the bottom left corner. Album covers are designed to be visually appealing, so they should be of the utmost prominence. Looking at a singer's bad teeth is not a justifiable replacement.
Information about which songs are coming up next has been taken away altogether except for a brief few seconds at the end of the current song via a small box in the upper right, which displays information about a single song.
This new design takes away from the visual appeal and *removes* useful information from the UI.
If there were an option to toggle between this new view and the previous one (the beautiful one) (and disable the Genius information/lyrics at the same time - I've seen many users request that), that would be ideal.
Bring back the album covers and minimalist gradients.
