I used to think that too, then I found Chromecast, then the Ps4 app,. 

I'm currently using Chromecast Link (Paired Chrome Cast Audio) for a multiroom setup for under $100. 

Also, some TVs (like LG) can use the Audio link to push the sound, then you can use HDMI out to your stereo
