Is there a list of genres? Does Spotify use a common list?

My Question or Issue

So, it is apparently possible to search by genre, year, and label which I didn't know until I found this:

https://support.spotify.com/us/article/search/

Since genre doesn't show up in the catalog, what are my options when searching for that?

For example, I can put this in the search box:

genre:industrial-dance year:2020

You can also check out the Browse section in your Library. In there you can find new albums/playlists based on Genre and Mood. 

If you'd like to see more advanced search options, go ahead and create an idea on the relevant idea board. We always take new ideas and feedback into consideration to improve the app. Here you can read more on how ideas work.
