Unable to authenticate Squeezebox/UE Smart Radio to Spotify "INVALID_CLIENT: Invalid redirect URI"

Unable to authenticate Squeezebox/UE Smart Radio to Spotify "INVALID_CLIENT: Invalid redirect URI"

Hi all,

after I got a message within my UE Smart Radio panel to re-activate the Spotify account, because there were made several changes to the app, I am unable to connect my UE Smart Radio (formerly a Squeezebox) to Spotify again.

When I add the Spotify service within the UE Smart Radio panel it asks me to enter my Spotify credentials (username and password). When I enter those, I am asked to activate the Spotify service. When I click on activate I am being forwarded to the Spotify login website, which is asking me to enter my username and password. Entering my credentials leads me to a blank page without any notifications.

When I am already logged in to Spotify within my web browser in a different tab and and trying to activate the Spotify service, I can see an error message, which says

INVALID_CLIENT: Invalid redirect URI

I would like to know, what is going wrong there. Unfortunately the Logitech support was not able to help me yet.

Logitech says, that I have to follow the steps described on this website: http://support.logitech.com/en_us/article/Authenticate-Spotify-user-accounts-for-Squeezebox-and-UE-S...

This is what I actually do, but I only get until step 3. After that I receive either none error or the error message, described above - depending on my current login status.

Just in case somebody asks: Yes, I have a Spotify premium account.

Thank you very much for your help!

Hi,

I managed to circumvent the problem. The Logitech support unfortunately did not really help with this.

It seems to be a problem with transport encryption of the UE smart radio portal. If you use http://www.uesmartradio.com instead of https://www.uesmartradio.com for accessing the portal, the activation of the Spotify App is working. The reirect_uri parameter is set incorrectly when using the https version and I did not figure out how to set it correctly in a quick way.

I hope, Logitech is going to fix their crappy implementation to also provide a working portal with transport encryption as well.
